(New) Gwaenysgor Conservation & Community Group

Gwaenysgor Village Green

Gwaenysgor has been identified as a conservation village and is within the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Gwaenysgor Conservation Group is a registered charity whose goals are “to conserve the history of Gwaenysgor and preserve its Welsh heritage.”

The new group

New people

In March 2025, the previous trustees and committee of the Gwaenysgor Conservation Group resigned and new trustees and committee were elected.

Community Councillor Sue Clarke is now the group’s chair, Sue Parry is the secretary, and Peter Jones remains treasurer. New charity trustees are Sue Clarke, Peter Jones, Deb Morgan, and Gareth Williams.

New focus

This new group takes a fundamentally different approach than before, widening their scope to include conserving Gwaenysgor’s community spirit with events and projects that everyone can take part in.

Strategy and planning meetings will be held once every three months where that quarter’s projects will be decided. Then, one Saturday every month, those plans will be worked on. There will also be a maintenence schedule for all projects, ensuring that Gwaenysgor always looks its best.

New ways to join in

The new group Conservation & Community Group will encourage more people to participate with new ways to get involved. There is a new WhatsApp group for full members and a Facebook group for all supporters.

The Gwaenysgor Village Hall vegetable garden is maintained by and is for the benefit of members of the community. The produce grown is free to everyone who needs it.

The group also organises events in Gwaenysgor which encourage people to contribute to village activies. These include an annual Easter Egg hunt, Summer BBQ, and Halloween party.
